The boat takes you to Itilleq from where you walk 4 km on a gravel road to the village. Igaliku was called Gardar by the Norse, and was a big farm as well as the residence for the Bishops. Today, it is a village thriving from sheep farming. |
Third day | ![]() The village Qassiarsuk and the museum BrattahlidFrom 9:00 until the eveningThe village Qassiarsuk is situated across the fjord 15 minutes by boat from Narsarsuaq. Today sheep farmers are working on exact the same land as the Viking Eric the Red chose for his settlement more than 1000 years ago. |
Forth day | ![]() Narsarsuaq GlacierFrom 9:00 until the eveningOptional hike to the ice cap. The first part of the hike is quite easy through the Flower Valley. From here, a steep ascent (300 m) leads to a plateau, with an impressive view of the glacier and ice cap. For those who want to touch the glacier, a walk down to the edge follows. |
